Get ready for the SAT

Twice a year, in the fall and in the spring, the Northwest PTSA offers a Practice SAT test. The Practice SAT is an excellent opportunity for students to experience a full SAT test. The test is just like a real SAT, with the same critical reading, math, and writing sections as the real SAT and questions from past SAT tests. By taking this test, students get a chance to experience what the real SAT will feel like, and they'll get their tests scored so that they'll know how well they did—without the stress of having those scores reported to anyone else. Test scores are given to students and parents at an evening meeting, usually about two weeks after the test at an informative "Test Secrets Seminar". This seminar will offer students strategies for preparing for the "real" SAT and improving their scores.

Once again, this is not an official SAT, and this is not the PSAT which Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are given during regular school hours. The PSAT is a "mini" SAT; questions are similar to SAT questions, but the test is considerably shorter than the SAT. The Practice SAT offered by the PTSA is a full-length SAT experience. This Practice SAT is not given or scored by the College Board (the people who give the real SAT).

The next SAT Practice Test will be offered on Saturday, February 11, 2006, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students must register before February 9th to take the test. The registration form was published in the January/February Jaguar Press, which was mailed to each student's home, or you can download a copy of the registration form here.

Students who take the Practice SAT on February 11, 2006 will receive their test scores and test booklets at a Test Secrets Seminar on Thursday, February 23, 2006, from 7:30 to 8:30. The seminar will be held in the school's media center.
